Things To Do

 

Hout Bay beach:
Hout bay has a beautiful sandy beach which is safe for swimming. There is also a long rocky coastline filled with tidal rock pools to explore.

Boat Trips:
There are boat trips to Seal Island which is populated by some 6000 seals. The boats of the 3 operators leave every half an hour.
The catamaran Nauticat is one of the largest and is suitable even for the less nautically inclined.

There are charter boats available for coastal cruises and deep sea fishing.

Walks and hikes:
There is access to the Table Mountain National Park via the Chapman’s peak walk, this is a fairly strenuous walk which takes approximately 2 hours to the top, but the views are spectacular.

Chapmans Peak drive:
For the less energetic, the world Famous Chapman’s peak road is open again. This drive takes you along the cliffs above the sea. and offers breathtaking views. If the road is followed for another half hour, you will reach tje entrance to the Cape Of Good Hope section of The Table Mountain National Park.

The World of Birds
A big attraction in Hout Bay is the World of Birds. The largest bird park in Africa with more than 400 different bird species, amongst them numerous birds of prey and owls. There are many walk-through aviaries to enjoy. They also boast a collection of reptiles and monkeys.

Wining and dining:
There are a range of fine restaurants ranging from upmarket sea-view establishments to convenience food outlets for any occasion .
